Q: Where is the Serial Number Located on The Polycarbonate Series?

The serial number is located on the underside of the cover, right next to the lock mechanism on the driver’s side.

Q: How Does The Polycarbonate Series Work?

The patented Polycarbonate Series truck bed covers are unique because they are manufactured from polycarbonate, a durable thermoplastic commonly known as LEXAN®. This low-profile design incorporates a front cover that is flush with the rolling cover; this streamlines the overall appearance and provides a firm, dependable seal to help keep the bed dry. Open a Polycarbonate series Retrax cover and you will immediately be impressed at the way it smoothly glides back and forth with just one hand. Sealed ball-bearing rollers mounted onto the aluminum support beams allow the cover to retract or close effortlessly without the use of springs or any kind of mechanism; no moving parts to jam, freeze or fail. The compact storage canister contains a unique spiral track system that prevents the cover from rubbing on itself as it retracts and closes. This eliminates wear-and-tear on the cover.

Q: What Is It Made Of?

The Polycarbonate series truck bed cover is manufactured from polycarbonate, a durable thermoplastic commonly known as LEXAN®. This rigid, one piece sheet is engineered to retract without joints or hinges that can trap dust, wear out, or freeze. Polycarbonate has excellent impact resistance and is unharmed by sun, moisture or temperatures from -50 to +200 degrees F. The Polycarbonate series is maintenance-free and its low-profile design has a gloss-black finish that is UV treated for years of protection from the sun. Our engineers utilized the same polymer technology in fighter-jet windshields and bullet proof glass and designed a truck bed cover that withstands the most rugged use.

Q: Will It Keep The Bed Dry?

What About Snow And Ice? An automotive grade weather-strip, designed for harsh outdoor use, seals the Polycarbonate series truck bed cover on all sides to help keep water, snow, ice and dust out of your bed and the moving parts of the cover; the system seals nicely over the top of the tailgate. The automotive grade weather-strip incorporates a soft felt lining that allows a smooth sliding action even in ice and snow conditions. All Retrax covers are manufactured in Grand Forks, ND; it has been engineered to withstand Mother Nature’s worst and offers dependable operation year-around.

Q: How Does It Lock?

The Polycarbonate series can be latched or key-locked in any position along the bed rail. The secure key-lock system offers protection that no soft cover can. When you need access to your pickup bed simply release the flush-mounted latch with the touch of a button – no key required – and the cover glides out of your way with just one hand. The cover can be locked open in any position along the rail to allow unlimited hauling flexibility and convenient use with a fifth-wheel trailer.

Q: Will It Improve My Gas Mileage?

The rigid design of the Polycarbonate series improves the aerodynamics of your pickup. Input from our customers and our own experience indicates that your gas mileage should improve by approximately 10% on the highway with the cover closed.
